About a year ago, I signed up for Affiliate X, which is a website that specializes in Clickbank product research. They offered all sorts of upsells, like half-baked website templates plus, if you get on their list, you’ll be bombarded with emails hawking the latest Internet Marketing “frauduct.” Basically, the guys that run this site only want to make a quick buck and do not give a rats ass what they are pushing to people on their list. All they want is the commission.

Here’s one of the emails that I got:

In the last three days, AffiliateX has been pushing a new product called Affiliate Resurrection.

I’ve gotten emails with subject headings like:

If you go to the site, it is your classic Internet-Marketing-Product-from-Clickbank-ad:

• the Powerpoint video presentation, with a paid actor reading the slides, that goes on forever.
• Big bold hand-written text, with lots of red, yellow highlights, circles and arrows everywhere.
• Proof with screen shots and video of how much commissions he’s earned in just a few days using his method after starting with nothing.
• Exclamations about how the author is upset with all these get-rich-quick-with-internet-marketing schemes
• Pictures of the good life like the big house and some exotic vacation spot
• Image of fake software package
• Official-looking certificate detailing the risk free money back guarantee.
• Cutting the price from thousands of dollars to just $49
• “Free bonus”
• If you try to leave the site, a message asking you not to leave without taking a look at a special offer ( in this case, an opportunity to get on his list and get bombarded with more crap plus $10 off his product)
• If you decide to buy it, you get hit with a number of upsells (if the product is good by itself, why the need for all that other stuff?)

As for the product itself, the ad claims that this is software, but according to the posters at the warrior forum, it is just a series of 5 to 10 minutes videos. Here’s the description from one of the members:

The bottom line is that you will probably get more value from some of the free blogs and forums that are out there. Warrior forum is a good place as well as digital point.  It’s amazing that people actually make crap like this.

I’ve purchased two of his products, PPC classroom and another one that helped you to build websites quickly. PPC classroom was laid out pretty well, but you can get better info at the Warrior Forum.  That other one was just plain garbage. The interface was cluncky and it created very ugly websites. oh well. I quickly got a refund for that.

Anway, a few months ago, Anik Singal released Profit Jackpot. The landing page featured an annoying video with shaky camera shots, fast edits and switching between  black and white and color footage. Of course, Anik talked about how all these push-button  internet marketing products (that he probably promoted himself) are all hype and lies.

But Anik states that Profit Jackpot, which is a type of autoblogging system, is the real deal and will help you to make money for the long term.

Basically you set up sites that scrapes content from other sites like Youtube and article sites.  Here are some comments I found at the warrior forum:

. . .the software was violating Youtube’s TOS in more than one way, not to mention that by disabling the links back to the article directories the software was scraping, we were also violating the TOS of those sites.

Their reply was that they had been building sites with the software for several months without any problem so don’t worry. . .

 

He uses this technique to disguise the fact his software really isn’t very impressive at all, even at $47. It’s just a scrape and spam tool like all the rest of these automated solutions. I guess this goes one step further by lifting comments (from YouTube?) which will only serve to make the search engines wary of all blog commentary, if enough of this garbage floods the net.

 

One positive comment though not much:

. . .The other site I put up in a tougher golfing niche to see how it would go without any backlinking or anything. Its getting there, but not for the tough keywords yet – mostly long tail stuff. This site is making a few bucks per week in AdWords revenue because the golf niche has pretty high CPC rates. . . as Autobloggers go, this one was ok. . .I’m at the point of dropping of his lists because its just rubbish swipe copy emails for terrible products . . .

Great comments. It’s probably a good idea to visit these forums to check out the opinions of people who have used it. You will get a good balance of whether a product really works as promised.

The stuff in there is quite amazing, but there are a couple of post in there that are just plain shocking.

Most of the emails are worded as if the content he is referring us to are free, but it will usually cost an email address, or perhaps a cliffhanger at the end tempting us to pay to get the Big Secret.

After awhile you start to wonder if you are paying thousands for the privilege of buying stuff from him.

Anyway, the most annoying emails that he sends out are the ones that ask for a favor. These favors are visiting a website or signing up for something so that he could be number one in whatever. Here’s his most recent one:

It’s like people are paying him so that we can do HIM favors like this. Irritating. It sounds to me that all that other stuff that he claims to be success in is a lot of bunk and all he does is make his money through selling internet marketing products via his lists.

Another thing that annoys me is he loves to use “ROCK SOLID CONTENT” in his pitch as in the example above.

It looks like your usual internet marketing product from clickbank with the original price ($149) slashed to an obscenely deep discount ($39). Of course, this person banked exactly $1,011,612.21 in three months using this method, whatever that is.  I’m not going to go in detail here, but I want to go over the offer page that Craig K. created to get you to sign up.

Good deal, I guess, but scroll to the bottom of the page and you get this:

Only 17 mins!?!  What exactly is a MINS?  Is that an English unit that no one uses? I initially thought 17 MINUTES but it’s been EIGHT HOURS since I got the email so I guess it must be something else . . .hmm

Pretty amazing stuff.

But if you read through the whole ad, you have no idea exactly what they are selling . . .it’s just a Big Secret only the underground marketer would know. Of course, you can learn the secret from the Clickbank Traffic Warrior for $997 . . .wait, $647 . . .scratch that, $397 . . .still too steep? $197 . . .ok, seriously, these guys want you to succeed so, $47! (or get it for $37 if you try to exit) . . .plus a bunch of upsells that will ensure the $500,000 will be in your bank account.

So what is it?

It’s an article spinner and auto-submitter, that runs on windows only. There’s nothing terribly unique or special about this method. There are actually several products on the market that does that. Whether this one is good or not, can’t say. But with the tactic of not revealing what the product is until you buy is an excellent indication that the product is crap.

The concept is simple, make money on the internet “with just a few quick clicks of your mouse . . .”

More specifically – -

Imagine: A program that helps you get traffic and make money…

• With no website…
• With no list of your own…
• With no partners or marketing buddies…
• With no experience at all!
• With no technical savvy…
• With no grueling hours at the computer…
• With no out of pocket ad expense…
• And with no worries about the traffic ever going away!

Wow, who does not want to get traffic without going through the usual route of article writing, lens building, list building, back linking, and Adwords? 

We certainly would like that, so we decided to go for it for $67 plus $197 for 11 month membership (instead of $37 a month). On top of that we signed up for another $197 for traffic leads, which is an email list that can help us get paying customers. (There are upsells pages after the initial sign up. We skipped most of them except for the lead traffic option)

Of course, if all this is crap, we can get a refund within 60 days.

What do we hope to achieve?

• Lots of traffic, like tens of thousands a month. On the web page, he has examples like this (of course, how do you get traffic with no websites?):

• “Generate unstoppable streams of ultra targeted traffic with a few quick clicks, starting TODAY.”
• “Generate nonstop cash sales… 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, whether you’re working, relaxing, vacationing, or even while you’re sleeping…”
• “Make serious cash sales of your own products and grab insane affiliate commissions almost immediately”
• “Do all of this with so little out of pocket it will be cheaper than a night out with friends!”

These are points made on the website. Let’s see if any of it is true . . .

Sounds too good to be true?
Well the creator of this Secret Money Ring was created by “The Power Promoter” Matt Bacak. To be honest, we have never heard of him, but he must be someone well known.

The landing page for the Secret Money Ring is your typical long scrolling page with the intro video and testimonials from “well respected” marketers to vouch for his greatness and someone who has made $$$ by using Bacak’s techniques.

Wow, look at all those checks! And his T-Shirt . . .Awesome!!!

There were a couple of points on the landing page that sparked our curiosity.

The first is the claim that Matt Bacak’s book The Ultimate Lead Generation Plan, was a number one best seller on Barnes and Noble, doing better than Harry Potter or an Oprah approved book.

There is a link to an article on PRWeb. While the link does make the claim seem legitimate, PRWEb is not a news website but a place to post press releases, which anyone can do. As for the article itself, the reason why the book shot to number one in just hours is bonus offers for purchasing the book. Of course, to show that Matt Bacak is a nice guy, all the profits went to Habitat for Humanity.

We did a search for his book the on Barnes and Nobles website and came up with no results.

However, it does show up on Amazon. The book has a rating of 4 out of 5 stars. However, if you read the positive reviews, it just seems canned to us. However, there are negative reviews like:

I’m disappointed to say this book is just one long 117-page sales letter. Matt Bacak is a well-known promoter and marketer and this book contains basic snippets of information without really revealing much content. Lots of web site addresses and links to go check out but many of those just promote products. The information that is exposed is pretty old-hat in the Internet arena now, such as “squeeze pages” – there I’ve just revealed the main “amazing new” concept of the book.

And

Wow! Where do I start? There were probably 50-60 grammar errors in this very short book. Didn’t the author have a proofreader? You will be feeling like you wasted your $10 with this. Even the 3 free bonuses listed on the cover aren’t accessible. The link provided in the book doesn’t work. The author states in the Introduction, “This information is going to blow your mind…” That it did for its lack of value. The few simplistic secrets that he refers to as his “little known system” are all over the internet, and are free. He admits to being a promoter, and it shows!

The second thing that sparked our interest is the eight page spread in millionaire blueprint magazine. While that’s cool to be featured in a magazine, we are not all that familiar with millionaire blueprint magazine. Apparently it is a real magazine which features such famous millionaires as Russel “Biff” Brunson and James Malinchak.

That’s all marketing; try to hype up something to sound much bigger than it really is, like calling yourself a consultant when you are really unemployed . . .

Anyway, this program will cost you $1 to try out for two weeks then it’s $67.95 a month after that. Of course, the two weeks will probably not get you anything of value but give you just enough to try to make you stay on for at least a month.

While it was fun reviewing the landing page, We won’t be testing this program out right now but we may visit this later on if the Secret Money Ring is still around.

"So, why don't you make like a tree and get outta here?"

If you haven’t read our previous post, the Viral Secret is a website where you sign up for six to seven newsletters at one time in order for you to include your list.

For our experiment, we started this in late February, following the instructions on the website, plus, for some help, we purchased the $97 upsell. The upsell contained video clips on how to do mailing list marketing (the clips are worth hundreds of $$$) and includes preferential treatment so that people see your sign up offer more often versus those who signed up to the viral secret for free.

After two months, we can say that our mailing list has increased an incredible 300% without doing any work!!!

When we first started, we had one person on our mailing list . By the end of  April, our List increased to 4!!!

We were absolutely floored with the result.  It was just awesome.  Without a doubt Russell Brunson’s The Viral Secret delievered on its promise!

P.S.: On a side note, Russell Brunson’s team contacted me personally to find out if I wanted to join their group and become an Internet Marketing guru provided I had the money to pay them.  I respectfully declined but they were very impressed at what I have done and insisted that I join them, provided I had the money to pay them. After much talk and the realization that I had no money to pay them, they respected my decision to not join up with them.  It was such an honor to even be considered!
